Originally commissioned to celebrate Waltham Forest as part of the inaugural London Borough of Culture celebrations in 2019, We Are Extraordinary tells the stories of some of the inspiring people who have lived or worked in Waltham Forest. From inventors of planes, cars, Yoda and the prawn cocktail, to sports stars, artists, dancers, musicians and social reformers, Waltham Forest has seen many extraordinary people live and work in this part of north east London. Aimed at primary school aged children, this book can be dipped into one person at a time, or read all the way through, with inspiration and facts to be found on every page, and ideas for further thinking and lesson plans at the back. The children of Waltham Forest need never be stuck for school project ideas again!
Please note there are two versions of this book. The first, distributed to schools and libraries in Waltham Forest for the Borough of Culture 2019, includes work by children at The Jenny Hammond School in Leytonstone. Please email general@fishertonpress.co.uk if you would like to order copies of this book.
The second has been published for general sale and is available here via Amazon.
